Part marking

1.0 Scope

Marking is the process of applying permanent or semi-permanent identification to parts for traceability and identification. 

1.1 Laser marking

Marking done with laser. Text is burned to the surface, without material removal. Use only file names for marking, unless otherwise specified!

1.2 Paint Marker Marking

Marking done by hand, using waterproof paint marker. Use only file names for marking, unless otherwise specified!

1.3 Sticker Marking

Marking printed on a sticker/ label. White plastic tape is preferred over paper tape, as paper tape tends to leave a sticky residue and can be difficult to remove.  Use only file names for marking, unless otherwise specified!

1.4 Laser engraving

Marking done with laser engraving. Text is structural and achieved by material removal. Use only file names for marking, unless otherwise specified!

1.5 Bundle & Label

Marking bundled parts. Labels can be created using a label printer or by applying handwritten markings directly onto tape. Use only file names for marking, unless otherwise specified!
